Beyond Aviation Log

Teen Aviation of New Jersey

Teen Aviation of New Jersey is holding the grand opening of our recently renovated hangar at Flying W Airport on June 25, 2022 from noon to 7PM. The hangar will be the home for our Aircraft Build Program, a youth educational build program registered with Van’s Aircraft, Inc. The TANJ Aircraft Build Program is a collaborative effort of Joy To The Child, Inc. DBA Teen Aviation of New Jersey and the Camden Youth Aviation Program, both of which are public non-profit charitable organizations under Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code.

The Aircraft build program is a weekly activity for students who have a sincere interest in aviation. The purpose of the program is to encourage high school age students to gain greater knowledge in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), and aviation-related careers fields. The objective of the program is to introduce the students to career possibilities in a variety of STEM and aviation-related fields they may not be aware of or that may seem beyond their reach. Students in the program build a Van’s Aircraft RV-12, an actual, flying two seat light sport aircraft. The students are guided through the build by our mentors, with the philosophy being mentors teach, students build. The program is entirely funded through charitable donations and is at no cost to the students or their families. All program staff and mentors are volunteers, and all contributions go directly to the cost of the aircraft builds, student activities, overhead, and administrative expenses. Build sessions will be held every Saturday starting July 9, 2022 from noon to 5PM in Hangar 10 at Flying W Airport in Medford New Jersey.

Everyone is welcomed to stop by Hangar 10 at Flying W Airport on June 25th to share in the celebration of the start of our youth educational aircraft build program. Several experimental and production aircraft, as well as our partially completed RV-12, will be on display. Our desktop flight simulator with Red Bird controls running X-Plane 10 will be set up for anyone who would like to take it for a turn around the pattern. We will also have an aerial photography exhibit, music, and food available for your enjoyment and entertainment.

We invite you to visit our website, and to follow us on Facebook at Teen Aviation of New Jersey for more information on our program. If you would like to support our program, please visit the SUPPORT TANJ page of our website to make a donation.

Thanks for your interest and hope to see you at the hangar on June 25th.
